When the angel Gabriel revealed the Qur’an to Mohammad, was he reading from a copy of the Bible?
How else can you explain the references to over fifty people, typically in the same or similar narratives found in the Bible.
I think the answer is No.
Muhammad was illiterate and when the angel Jibriil (Gabriel) first appeared to him in the cave. The angel said:
“Read”
Muhammad said “I cannot read”
The angel replied back:
“Read in the Name of they Lord who Creates,
Creates man from a congealed mass
Read and Thy Lord is Most Generous
Who Taught by the Pen
Taught Man what He Knew Not”
These 5 verses from the Holy Qur’an were the first verses revealed by the angel Jibriil to Muhammad
Allah further stated in the Holy Qur’an (Surah 3:71)
“O People of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), why do mix truth with falsehood and conceal the truth while you know”
(Surah 3:84) Say “We believe in Allah and in what has been sent down to us and what was sent down to Ibrahim, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and Jesus and the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between one another among them and to Him we have submitted.”
Allah revealed himself not only to the Israelites (Isaac’s prophets and progeny) but to the Ishmaelites (Arabs) as well.
